Kanrei Tunnel

The Kanrei Tunnel is a beautifully preserved, historic reinforced concrete arch tunnel completed in 1931 along the old Tokaido highway. Located near Hakone-Yumoto, it is a registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan that showcases elegant early Showa-era civil engineering. Visitors can easily walk up to it to admire its rustic stone-faced facade and capture unique photos of a bygone era of Japanese transit.
