Located just 380 meters from the hypocenter, this imposing 1936 Neoclassical building miraculously survived the atomic blast due to its reinforced concrete construction. Inside, you can explore the eerie, preserved vault basement, view historical exhibitions, and see actual physical damage from the blast on the upper floors. It offers a quiet, evocative, and less-crowded alternative to the main Peace Memorial Museum.

Look closely at the window frames on the upper floors to see embedded shards of glass fused into the iron by the blast's extreme heat.
