Honkawa Elementary School Peace Museum

This museum is the preserved basement and shell of the first reinforced concrete school in Hiroshima, located just 410 meters from the hypocenter. While less crowded than the main Peace Memorial Museum, it offers a deeply intimate look at the tragedy through surviving artifacts, chilling structural damage, and photos of the students. It is a quiet, profound space that brings the human cost of the atomic bomb into sharp focus.
