Ryōan-ji

Ryōan-ji is a historic 15th-century Zen temple in Kyoto, world-renowned for its enigmatic karesansui (dry landscape) rock garden. Visitors come to contemplate the 15 mysteriously arranged boulders set in raked white gravel, designed so that at least one is always hidden from view. Beyond the rock garden, you can expect tranquil temple grounds, a beautiful moss garden, and a scenic pond.
