The Museum of Kyoto - Annex

Housed in the majestic, red-brick former Bank of Japan building (built in 1906), this free-to-enter annex is a masterpiece of Meiji-era Western architecture. Inside, you will find a soaring, high-ceilinged former banking hall that now hosts rotating art exhibitions, craft fairs, and classical concerts. It offers a striking photographic contrast to Kyoto's traditional wooden temples and is a quick, atmospheric stop in the central shopping district.
