Manyo Botanical Gardens

Located within the grounds of Kasuga Taisha Shrine, this peaceful botanical garden is dedicated to the plants mentioned in the 'Manyoshu', Japan's oldest poetry anthology. It features over 250 plant species, each marked with the ancient poems they inspired, alongside a stunning wisteria garden that bursts into purple blooms in late spring. Visitors can expect a tranquil stroll through classical landscape design, complete with a central pond and a stage for ancient court music.
