Housed in a beautifully restored traditional merchant home, this hands-on museum showcases 'karakuri'—ingenious mechanical toys from the Edo period. Unlike typical museums, visitors are encouraged to actually play with the wooden puzzles, gravity-defying acrobats, and optical illusions. Friendly staff are on hand to demonstrate how these clever, historical mechanisms work, making it a delightful, interactive stop in Nara's historic district.
