Sarusawa Pond is a scenic, willow-fringed historic pond offering iconic views of Kofuku-ji Temple's five-story pagoda reflecting on its water. It is a peaceful spot to rest after exploring Nara Park, where you can watch turtles sunbathing and locals relaxing on the benches. It is especially beautiful at sunset and when illuminated at night, making it a perfect, quick photo stop.
Insider Tip
Visit at dusk when the pagoda is lit up, and walk to the small Uneme Shrine on the northwest corner to see its unique backwards torii gate.
