Suzakumon Gate is the reconstructed main entrance to Nara's 8th-century Heijo Palace, standing as a majestic monument amidst a vast, open archaeological park. It is worth visiting to experience the sheer scale of Japan's ancient capital, away from the typical temple crowds. Expect a spacious, windswept site with minimal shade, where you can marvel at the vibrant red architecture and watch the Kintetsu railway line uniquely slice right through the historic plaza.
