Wakakusayama Hill
Wakakusayama Hill is a grass-covered mountain offering panoramic views of Nara's historic temples and grazing deer. It is famous for its gentle hiking trails and the dramatic annual grass-burning festival (Yamayaki) held in January. Visitors can expect a moderately steep but rewarding 30-45 minute climb to the summit, which is especially magical at sunset as the city lights begin to flicker below.
