Hozen-ji

Tucked away in a stone-paved alley just steps from the neon chaos of Dotonbori, Hozen-ji is a peaceful 17th-century Buddhist temple. It is famous for its statue of Mizukake Fudo-myoo, which has become completely blanketed in lush green moss over decades of visitors splashing it with water for good fortune. Visiting offers a serene, atmospheric contrast to Osaka's modern bustle, especially as dusk falls and traditional paper lanterns light up the alley.
