LAUREL TOKYO is a stylish, subterranean boutique club in Shibuya known for its high-end sound system and intimate, neo-futuristic neon aesthetic. Unlike Tokyo's overwhelming mega-clubs, it offers a more upscale lounge-like atmosphere where you can enjoy hip-hop and open-format beats. Expect a fashionable, energetic crowd of local trendsetters and international visitors dancing in a sleek, compact space.
LAUREL TOKYO occupies the basement level of the SK Plaza Building on the upper slope of Dōgenzaka. Access is via an exterior staircase positioned to the right of Hotel SK Plaza. Security enforces mandatory physical photo ID checks and a dress code at the door. The room operates nightly until 05:00, with visitor traffic building substantially after midnight and peaking between 02:00 and 04:00.
Arrive before midnight on weekends to beat the queue and take advantage of early-entry drink discounts.
Guests must conform to the venue's entry standards. The club refuses admission to men wearing tank tops, sandals, or clothing displaying exposed tattoos. Staff also reserve the right to turn away visitors wearing excessively rough attire deemed unsuited to the lounge setting.
On regular operational nights, international visitors receive free entry until 03:30. A valid physical passport or residence card is required for verification at the entrance. This discount may be suspended during special guest events or holiday schedules.
All guests must present a physical government ID containing a photo and date of birth. Acceptable documents include passports, driver's licenses, or My Number cards. Under Japanese law, anyone under 20 is barred from entry, and digital copies on phones are not accepted.
Walk up Dōgenzaka from Shibuya Station and turn left at the Dōgenzaka-kōban-mae police box intersection. Continue down the side street until you see Hotel SK Plaza on your left. LAUREL TOKYO has an independent dedicated staircase immediately to the right of the hotel entrance.
