Part of a massive retail complex next to Osaka Station, the North Building stands out for its focus on innovation, lifestyle, and design. Beyond its sleek shops, it houses the Knowledge Capital, an interactive hub where you can experience cutting-edge technology and prototype products. It is less crowded than the South Building, offering a more relaxed environment to browse home decor, technology, and unique dining options.
Visitors arriving from JR Osaka Station should use the second-floor pedestrian deck rather than searching for an underground link, as no subterranean corridor connects the train station directly into the North Building basement. The building contains lifestyle flagships, interior showrooms, and innovation labs that attract markedly lighter foot traffic than the South Building. A free open-air terrace garden on the 9th floor provides seating and direct sightlines over Umeda Sky Building and Umekita.
Head to the 'Subaru Star Academy' or the rooftop terrace on the 9th floor for a quiet, green escape with great views of the city.
Exit JR Osaka Station at the Central North Gate on the second floor and follow the outdoor pedestrian bridge into the South Building. Walk straight through the South Building concourse to the connecting skybridge, which enters directly onto the second floor of the North Building.
General entry to The Lab. on the second and third floors is free of charge. Visitors can explore hands-on robotics, prototypes, and corporate and academic research demonstrations without a reservation, though occasional special exhibitions in the event halls carry separate fees.
Umekita Floor functions as a shared food hall where diners can sit at common floor tables and cross-order food and beverages from different tenant restaurants. Staff deliver each individual dish to your designated table number, enabling mixed groups to eat together without committing to one venue.
